There is normally no per-bag charge, but there is a real limit, and it is volume and weight rather than price. Light jets in particular have small holds. On a long sector the fuel load competes with baggage for the same weight allowance, so range and luggage interact.
The hold is a fixed size and on smaller aircraft it is genuinely small. A light jet with a full cabin of passengers may have room for little more than soft overnight bags. Midsize and heavy jets improve substantially, and some types have holds accessible in flight.
Baggage counts against the same payload as passengers and fuel. On a long sector the fuel takes priority, so the weight available for bags falls. This is why a party that fits on paper can still be told the load has to reduce, and why the honest answer depends on the distance as well as the aircraft.
Golf bags, skis, instruments and sporting or work equipment are usually carried, but they are the items most likely to force a larger aircraft, because they are long and rigid rather than heavy. Hard cases are harder to load than soft bags of the same volume. If you are carrying anything of this kind, state it at quote stage with rough dimensions rather than mentioning it at the aircraft.
